Rain water

We’ve had some great rain in the last few hours. Did you know that Fonteintjies is completely dependent on rain water? This means you get to drink and shower in rain water. Rain water has great health benefits. Rain water is supposedly considered “soft water” which is great for your hair considering it doesn’t dry… Continue reading Rain water

Oystercatcher eggs

How exciting! Our friends at the Oystercatcher Trail posted this photo on Facebook. It shows a recently-hatched egg of the African oystercatcher (Haematopus moquini), which nests on our shores. Please be extra careful when visiting the beaches now. Precious eggs.

New gas stove

A wide view of the kitchen at Fonteintjies. On the left are a gas stove with a kettle on the hob, and a dishwasher with a cooking utensils, a pot plant, and a compost bucket on top. In the centre is a sink. On the right is a cupboard and counter. On the counter are cutting boards, a bread bin, a toaster, a kettle, and a coffee plunger.

Our kitchen has been updated to now boast a gas stove and oven. Guests are still able to cook a meal or make coffee even during loadshedding. We look forward to hosting you.

Western Cape Butterfly Sanctuary

What a wonderful addition to the Garden Route! The new Western Cape Butterfly Sanctuary at Ruiterbosch (between Mossel Bay and Oudtshoorn) is a great place to visit while staying at Fonteintjies.

The ocean is calling

The word LOVE written in the sand on a beach, with the ocean in the backgrond.

The ocean is calling! Did you know that we have private access to a beautiful secluded beach? It’s only a 500m walk to reach this little stretch of peace and quiet. Thank you to past guest Marchané for this photo, we love it.

Annex upgraded

The Annex room at Fonteintjies. In the centre is a square wooden table with a bowl of fruit. Along the right hand wall are four bunk beds. In the near left corner is a TV. Beyond the TV is a small fridge with a microwave oven on it, then a kitchen cupboard, with a kitchen sink beyond that. On the left hand wall behind the fridge and cupboard is a window. In the far left, you can just make out the door to the toilet, with a mirror hanging on the door.

Our annex has been upgraded and is looking beautiful in the bright colours. The annex is available to rent in addition to the main house, allowing a total of 10 people at Fonteintjies. It’s also available as a stand alone rental, perfect for a small family getaway, fishermen wanting to break away, or just a… Continue reading Annex upgraded
